Calendar Test

Brookfield farmers, artisans, crafters, cooks and bakers will join together to present a unique day of shopping, eating, community and fun at the Brookfield Old Town Hall, 93 Stone Rd in Brookfield.  Farm items will include honey, maple syrup, cider, seasonal vegetables, eggs, mushrooms, chicken, beef and pork.  Craft items include organic dried flower arrangements, sketches and photography, wooden bowls, hand knit accessories, handcrafted functional and decorative pottery including bowls, mugs, vases etc. There will be fiction by a local author. Lunch items courtesy of the Brookfield Old Town Hall committee will feature a variety of hearty soups and bread.  The Hall is steps from the very picturesque Floating Bridge so make a day of it!

Join us at Brookfield’s Old Town Hall on October 7, 7-8:30pm for the showing of a new and powerful film, entitled, Just Getting By. 

Just Getting By is an informative documentary film by Bess O’Brien that offers an intimate look at the lives of Vermonters struggling with food and housing insecurity. Vermont has the second highest rate of homeless people in the United States, right after California. One third of Vermonters struggle to put food on the table. These are big issues for our small state.

The film was shot during 2022-23 by director Bess O’Brien and cinematographer Patrick Kennedy. “We wanted to capture the day to day lives of Vermonters who were living paycheck to paycheck and who were struggling to keep food on the table and a roof over their head. We also wanted to show the incredible resilience and courage of folks who have very little and still manage to get up every day and strive for a better life ... We hope by touring the film across the state that we can raise consciousness about these pressing issues of food and housing insecurity…” (Bess O’Brien)

Non perishable food donations for Randolph Area Food Shelf (RAFS) are welcomed.

Brookfield Old Town Hall will be decorated for Halloween and welcoming trick-or-treaters from 4-7pm.  Our expanded hours will allow families to participate in other events and still stop by en route. Come bring your ghouls and goblins to the Old Town Hall for some treats!
